Shaken or StirCrazy: Negroni

With all these daily Zoom happy hours, I’ve been making my go-to cocktails at home and thought I’d share the quick & easy ways I wind down at the end of a long day. Shaken or StirCrazy is my video series where I will feature many of my homemade cocktails for you all to make as well. I’m starting with a staple in the rotation (one of my top 3 for sure)… a Negroni! This classic Italian drink is WORLD FAMOUS. Seriously. You’d typically have it before dinner to help stimulate the appetite (as an aperitif) I love this drink so much because it’s so well balanced. A little bitter, a little sweet, and super smooth. Honestly, the best part is that it’s super easy to make. Equal Parts - Gin, Sweet Vermouth & Campari stirred over ice and garnished with an orange slice or orange peel. BUT here’s the thing…. I recently found out that Campari no longer uses natural ingredients to color their liquor but instead its just your standard food coloring. Given that I drink these pretty often I wanted to see if I could find an alternative that used natural ingredients. Enter Gran Classico Bitter! This non-red alternative replaces Campari perfectly! “It is made from a maceration of 25 aromatic herbs and roots including wormwood, gentian, bitter orange peel, rhubarb, and hyssop. The maceration also creates a naturally attractive, golden-amber color, and no additional coloring is added”. I feature both versions, so you can decide which one you like better. Try it and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:

  • Hendrick’s Gin

  • Dolin Vermouth Rouge

  • Tempus Fugit Gran Classico Bitter
